Army 22 Navy 14: sides meet at Twickenham to battle it out once again

The Army has won the Babcock trophy at a sold-out Twickenham stadium this bank holiday weekend.

In glorious sunshine the two sides came head-to-head once again for this iconic fixture in front of 80,000 fans.

The Navy’s former Fijian flanker Sam Matavesi was send off midway through the first half after he head butting Army tighthead Ken Dowding in an off-the-ball incident.

The Army seizing the opportunity scored three tries in 12 minutes soon after Matavesi departed but managed only a penalty in the second half when they lost momentum at the same time as a power cut knocked out the electricity supply in half the stadium.

The Navy constantly attacked the Army’s defence in the second half but the Army put up a strong fight, blocking their advances until Mne Ratu Vakalutukali escaped his man and flew over to make the final score 22-14.
