Team of Royal Marines rescue lorry stuck in the snow amid Storm Emma carnage

Video footage shows Royal Marines helping push a heavy load vehicle out of a service station on the M4, near Newport.

They heaved against the weight of the truck, managing to successfully roll it up the road where it was able to drive away.

In the clip, you see them struggling to get the vehicle to move, but a group effort allowed them to get the Owens Group truck’s wheels moving eventually.

Group Operations Manager for Owens Group, Emyr Owen, said: “The Beast from the East coupled with Storm Emma have definitely put us at Owens Group to the test!

“Our drivers have encountered some drastic weather conditions over the last few days.

“They have remained extremely professional throughout but some did find themselves in some particularly ‘snowy’ situations.”

“This video is testament the massive respect our armed forces deserve. It’s time like this people do come together and support each other as one.”

“Without the Royal Marines at Magor Services yesterday, this driver would have faced many more hours stranded. They did an awesome job in getting us back moving.

“We would like to thank everyone involved in getting us back on wheels – allowing us to help keep the shelves stocked.”
