Schoolgirl Mylee Billingham, the niece of former SAS serviceman Mark Billingham, died in hospital after she was found critically injured in Brownhills, near  Birmingham, on Saturday night.

Police have confirmed the stabbing is being treated as a “domestic incident” and that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.

They also confirmed that they have arrested her father, 54-year-old Bill Billingham, who is in hospital with what is believed to be a self-inflicted stab wound to the stomach.

Neighbour Graham Greatrex said Mylee’s “hysterical” mother, Tracey Taundry, was screaming that someone had “stabbed my little girl” as he tried to help her.

The eight-year-old’s uncle, former SAS sergeant major Mark Billingham, who appears in the Chanel 4 show SAS: Who Dares Wins was also once a bodyguard to A-list stars including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise and Clint Eastwood. He issued a short statement to the press on behalf of the family asking for their privacy to be respected.

“Please respect my family’s privacy. There will be no further comment at this time.”

Mark was in the Special Air Service for 27 years and is an instructor to the recruits on the Channel 4 hit show. He was awarded an MBE in 2005 for leading a mission in Iraq to rescue British hostage Norman Kember.
